Secret Soap #1

Secret Soap #1 Tobacco Flower & Raw Honey
Secret Soap #1 Tobacco Flower & Honey, shares many qualities with the popular Mists of Valhalla Soap

Our first secret soap is a fragrance that many of our followers may have heard of before, “Tobacco Flower & Raw Honey”. It smells like warm and spicy sweetness with hints of vanilla bean, teakwood, and dried fruits. Some may even refer to it as “smokey”. Ring any bells yet? If that fragrance name or description doesn’t sound familiar- then have you tried “Mists of Valhalla”? It quickly become one of our most popular soap bars, and the second most popular car freshener

For this first soap, we simply took the base fragrance from Mists and decided to make it into a soap for you to enjoy. Tobacco Flower & Honey has a simple, yet elegant scent, that compliments just about everyone. If you enjoyed Mists of Valhalla, then you need go get your hands on this secret soap. If you have never tried MOV- dip your toes into the mist and see for yourself why our customers love it!

Hidden Soap #2

Soap #2 Lilac Flowers & Lemonade
Secret Soap #2 Lilac Flowers & Lemonade will quench your thirst for a new and fruity soap

Looking for something a little fruitier? We’ve got you covered. Introducing Secret Soap #2- Lilac Flowers & Lemonade. Perfect for summer, this bar contains the quenching combination of sweet, floral, and tangy citrus that you need. Refreshing in just the right ways, it compliments anyone who is showering after spending a warm and sunny day outside.

Does this fragrance also sound familiar to you? You may have previously tried one of our Lavender Lemonade soaps in our gorgeous and crystal-adorned, “Van Gogh” soap, or its slightly less pretty sibling, “Go the F#ck to Sleep”. We also have a lavender lemonade lip balm! However, we know several of you have lavender allergies, so this Lilac Flowers & Lemonade soap is specially for you. Now you can get your own very similar soap without suffering the consequences of histamines.

Confidential Soap #3

Soap #3 Vanilla Orchid
Secret Soap #3 Pays Homage to the Limited Summer Car Air freshener Fragrance of the same name

The name of this third soap may be more recognizable to our car air freshener fans- we have, “Vanilla Orchid”! You got that right! A little birdie told us how much you guys enjoy the Limited Summer Time Bird Car Air Fresheners, so we made one of our most popular options into a soap! Not only can your car smell amazing, but so can you. Die-hard vanilla fans out there love this soap. It also has hints of florals for those wanting to mix it up.

Finally! A vanilla soap product that doesn’t make you hungry! A regular problem we face at BOV since all our recipies are all food-based. And who can say "no" to the cute black cockatoo on the box? I think we need more bird representation at Birds of Valhalla- don't you?

Classfied Soap #4

Soap #4 Cedar & Amber
Secret Soap #4 is Cedar & Amber...and is that Jason Momoa on the label?!

Our fourth secret soap is… Jason Momoa?? You heard me! Our fourth secret soap is reminiscent of amber & cedarwood spice, which is what Jason Momoa "allegedly" smells like. At least- that's what our production team is telling me.

Jason Momoa, if you are seeing this, if you could please come down to the studio so we can get a whiff- we need to know...for science!

In terms of fragrance, we have received many comments about how real "amber" doesn't have a smell. Which is true! However, in the world of fragrance, amber does not smell of fossilized tree resin. The scent of amber can be summarized as something akin to a sweet and smokey vanilla, while usually having hints of wood, specifically pine. Cedarwood can be described as having a woodsy smell with a hint of citrus.

Enjoy this soap, as you envision Mr. Momoa embracing you with a warm hug…or personally joining you in the shower *wink wink*.

We even have some not so secret, secret soaps!

The Second Batch of Secret Soaps Will Ship in August!

This next batch of soaps was made during the dead of night on the July 11-12th Soap Live! They won’t be ready to ship until August, but if you want to pre-order them, you can do so now!

Top Secret Soap #5

Soap #5 Midnight Pomegranate
Midnight Pomegranate, our 5th secret soap, curing

You wake up in the middle of the night, midnight to be precise, and you are craving fruit. Perhaps a berry? But not just any berry, a special berry. A berry that no one considers a berry. You are looking for a Midnight Pomegranate- our fifth secret soap.

Midnight Pomegranate is comparable to the fragrance by Bath & Body Works that holds the same name. The tangy yet sweet smell of pomegranate combined with twists of orange, cinnamon, and vanilla excites the senses.

Do you remember the shower orange craze? Where you would eat an orange in the shower? It was supposed to be relaxing and similar to aromatherapy as you let the orange skin fall to the bottom of your bathtub. Midnight Pomegranate has the same aura. Bathe in the sensation of biting into midnight fruits, and yield the relaxing and invigorating results.

Restricted Soap #6

Soap #6 Leather, Labdanum & Smoked Lavender
Secret Soap #6, seen curing. Contains fragrances of Leather, Labdanum, & Smoked Lavender

This next soap goes beyond my comprehension. It consists of fragrances I had no idea existed, let alone envisioned combined within a soap. Leather, Labdanum, and Smoked Lavender is the name and fragrance profile of our sixth secret soap. I’m sure we all know what leather smells like at this point- it’s one of the main scent profiles for our Kraken signature collection. But what is labdanum, and what should we expect smoked lavender to smell like?

Labdanum and Smoked Lavender

According to The Perfume Society, labdanum comes from the Cistus or Rock Rose plant. It was originally harvested from the wool of goats and sheep that would trek through shrubs of the plant. Today, it is directly harvested from the leaves itself. It can be traced back to ancient Egyptians where it was a key ingredient in ceremonial incense, and it has also been referred to in the bible as the "Balm of Gilead".

Most importantly, it is currently used to mimic the smell of ambergris or "amber". Remember that little tidbit of information I gave you for the fragrance profile of the Jason.. I mean Cedar & Amber Soap? Labdanum is similar as it is also warm and complex and you can potentially pick up notes of leather, honey, and plum.

Smoked lavender is probably significantly easier to imagine. You have your lavender, and you have some smoke, and boom! You have smoked lavender.

WRONG!

Burning or smoking lavender may acually help release certain beneficial compounds and smells. For example, one of the chemicals in lavender is "linalool", and according to a paper published by Current Neuropharmacology, there is supporting evidence that it may help treat some aspects of depression. Now, we can't say that our soap medically does anything! Because we are a good soap studio and follow the law! But there are interesting implications to harvesting and preparing different plants.

So to summarize, yes it does smell like a slightly deeper and smoky lavender. But it's a really cool smokey lavender!

Unknown Soap #7

Soap #7 Lavender Embers

Secret Soap #7- Lavender Embers still in its mold

I have to admit, visually and by scent description, this one confused me. Based on color alone, you could almost believe it to be more Midnight Pomegranate. In fact, you can see a sliver of the Midnight Pomegranate soap in its mold just to the right of the picture. You can also see that M.P. has faded in intensity- at least at the top of the bar, and it makes the two loaves similar in appearance. All of the three secret soaps that are still curing also either have purple, and/or purple ingredients (I'm looking at you Leather, Labdanum, and Smoked Lavender).

Fragrance wise, it also sounds similar to Smoked Lavender. Either way, lavender is near heat/potentially being lit on fire. So what's the difference?

The answer is, that while Smoked Lavender is just literal smokey lavender, Lavender Embers has some extra infused essential oils! These oils include: guaiacwood, eucalyptus, cypress, patchouli, cade, rosemary, cinnamon leaf, pine, sage, clove bud, orange (sweet), and lavandin.

I wont go through the whole list and try and explain each oil to you, but if you have never herd of "guaiacwood" it's another name for palo santo!

Essentially, Lavender Embers has enough going on in terms of individual fragrance profiles, it didn't need to be mixed with anything else! She's a strong and independent soap who don't need no extra help! Perfect for the strong and feminine individual in your life!
