Circle the World and Find Your Tail
The world is a large place and surprisingly unexplored. We know more about space and the universe than we know about our own oceans. So there are so many things left to be explored. Perhaps there truly is a giant sea serpent that encircles the world and swallows its own tail. Oh… You didn’t know? Well, let me shed some light on the story of Jörmungandr (pronounced Your-mun-gan-der for English speakers), the Midgard Serpent.
Loki, the god of mischief, fathered three children with the giantess Angrboda; Fenrir, Hel, and Jörmungandr. Jörmungandr was the middle child and when Odin took the children away from Loki and their mother in Jotunheim, he tossed Jörmungandr into the sea of Midgard to separate the children further. There, the serpent was able to grow without being inhibited and grew to encircle the Earth. He grasped his own tail and became known as the World Serpent because he was so large.
The end of days is always a hot topic with religions and of course, Ragnarok is no different. To signify the beginning of Ragnarok, Jörmungandr releases his tail and goes after his biggest foe, Thor. The pair fight and slay each other similar to Orion and Scorpius. Ragnarok, luckily for us, is still to come. Being the serpent, he represents transformation with the shedding of his skin. Every mythology has a serpent adversary from Egyptian, to Roman, to Christian and so Jörmungandr is the Norse serpent. Jörmungandr is said to be a reason for earthquakes as he shifts around the world to shed his skin and regain his comfort.
It makes sense that this soap inspired by the Midgard serpent gets the scaled pattern of serpents and dragons. This natural soap, colored with ethical micas, gets painted by the powders on each edge of the soap too to give the beautiful, silky, and bright finish like a snake showing off its new skin from a shed. Everything about this soap screams World Serpent, even the fragrance.
Fragrances tell a lot about what you will be getting. Scented in blood orange and nag champa, this bright and alluring fragrance draws you in to almost say “trust in me”. The smell of warm amber with notes of rose and lily of the valley open up this nag champa scent. Sandalwood and patchouli mix with dark musk and woody violet to round out and deepen the fragrance, making it earthy and sensual. Blended with a medley of grapefruit, orange peel, lemon peel, lemon, and mandarin citrus fruits enhance the bright, juicy orange scent and open up to vetiver and cedar brightening up the sensual and dark nag champa to make it feel like the forest and jungle come right to you as you hold the dragon scale soap in your hands.
If you’d like to hold the world in your hands, the second best option is to hold the Midgard Serpent instead. Grab your bar of this signature soap right here. You won’t regret your purchase. Circles never end and tales are meant to be told.
